Proclamation - 15th Anniversary of Frisco CDC

WHEREAS, On May 7, 1994 the City of Frisco held a special election at which 87% of Frisco voters approved the adoption of a sales and use tax at the rate of one-half of one percent to be used for the promotion and development of new or expanded business enterprises, parks and any other purpose authorized by the State of Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979; and

WHEREAS, On January 17, 1995 the City Council approved a Resolution authorizing and approving the creation of the Frisco Community Development Corporation to act on behalf of the City of Frisco, under and by virtue of the State of Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor of the City of Frisco issued the Oath of Office to Members of the newly created Community Development Corporation on February 16, 1995; and

WHEREAS, The Frisco Community Development Corporation has dutifully executed its mission by contributing more than 51 Million Dollars towards projects to improve Quality of Life (including participation in the Dr Pepper Ballpark, Dr Pepper Arena, and Pizza Hut Park), to develop Community Parks (including Frisco Commons, Warren Sports Complex, Harold Bacchus, and B.F. Phillips) and to promote learning and culture throughout the City of Frisco (by helping develop Sci-Tech Discovery Center, the Frisco Heritage Center and the Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco); and

WHEREAS, The following individuals have previously served on the Frisco Community Development Corporation: Pete Hosp, Taylor Hansel, Leslie Howell, Ralph Balthrop, Mark Wakeland, Ray Smith, Michael Osuna, Robert Sutton, Lisa Carson, Van Nichols, Dr. Jim Joyner, Richard Gonzalez, Richard Kaeufer, Janet McBride, Skip Williams, Keith Shipman, June Taylor, Rebecca King, Bobby Johnson, Steve Hulsey, Karin Herrmann, Tracie Shipman, Joseph Evanoski, and John Hoxie; and

WHEREAS, The Current Members of the Board of Directors include: Hunt Reifschneider, President; Allen Biehl, Vice-President; Cynthia Hurley, Secretary; Keith Wright, Treasurer; Gary Carley, Director; Craig Moen, Director; and Marc Robertson, Director.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Maher Maso, Mayor of the City of Frisco, Texas join the citizens of the City of Frisco, Texas in expressing gratitude to the former and current members of the Frisco Community Development Corporation Board of Directors for their unselfish and extraordinary service to the City. The City commends and congratulates them for their involvement in making Frisco a better place to live.

Additionally, I do hereby proclaim February 16, 2010 as the 15th Anniversary of the Frisco Community Development Corporation. The City of Frisco, Texas commends and congratulates the Corporation for its many accomplishments on this important anniversary date.
