Earth Day Proclamation


WHEREAS,         The first Earth Day was celebrated 40 years ago on April 22, 1970, with the goal of inspiring environmental awareness and encouraging the conservation, protection, and appreciation of our nation’s natural resources; and 

WHEREAS,         The City of Frisco will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 24th, 2010; and

WHEREAS,         Earth Day is a special day dedicated to Earth-awareness by taking action to save energy, plant trees, practice composting, protect natural habitats, reduce pollution/ litter and being committed to the 3R’s: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle; and

WHEREAS,         The City of Frisco proudly recognizes all who participate in Earth Day 2010, for their dedication in taking a proactive role in shaping the future of our environment and in protecting our Earth’s precious natural resources; and

WHEREAS,         The mission statement for the Department of Environmental Services of the City of Frisco is “To be dedicated, environmentally responsible stewards of our community and the Earth; and

WHEREAS,         The City of Frisco and Frisco Independent School District take pride in their city and their campus and we recognize the importance of the care and appreciation of the Earth and the role our contributions play in a cleaner, healthier environment.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Maher Maso, Mayor of the City of Frisco, do hereby proclaim April 24th, 2010 as
“FRISCO EARTH DAY 2010”
