[Note sent out from our City Manager and similar to one I have been posting. I will include the press release in the next message]
All –
The City of Frisco and its partners (The Southland Conference, Pizza Hut Park – FC Dallas, Frisco Economic Development Corporation, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, and Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau), collectively known as “Team Frisco,” are involved in an effort to bring the NCAA Division I Football Championship Games to Pizza Hut Park, the city’s state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium, for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. Like many bowl games, the national championship contest will be played during the first week of January following the regular season.
In November, Frisco was selected as one of two finalist cities along with the game’s recent host Chattanooga, Tenn. Team Frisco also played host to a site survey of NCAA staff and football committee members earlier this month. The finalists will make formal presentations before the NCAA on Feb. 25, and the winning bid will be revealed shortly thereafter.
We strongly believe the Frisco bid offers the NCAA, the participating teams and visiting fans an unrivaled championship game experience. Whether it’s the unmatched national air service into this area’s two major airports, or the superb lodging, restaurant and shopping options, or the outstanding cultural and family-oriented opportunities in the DFW metropolitan area, we think Frisco is the ideal destination for the NCAA’s highest level of championship football!
In an effort to show the NCAA our region’s interest and enthusiasm for hosting NCAA Football, our host committee has developed a website for football fans to indicate their interest in buying tickets if the national championship is awarded to Frisco. The website allows individuals to provide contact information and the number of tickets they may be interested in purchasing for the game. There is no financial transaction or further obligation beyond the pledge of interest, but Team Frisco will receive an indication for the potential of local and regional ticket sales possibilities.
